In Loving Memory Rev. Glen D. Keylon

A Beautiful tribute to a loving husband, father, grandfather and minister. Pastor Keylon’s urn was a beautiful handmade box perfect in the shape of a pulpit, made by one of his sons. Thank you to the Keylon family for sharing their family with us for so many years, Pastor Keylon’s memory will be with us always.

The urn I built for Dad’s ashes. It started out as a wooden box… It was therapeutic… and then it wasn’t… and then “divine intervention” made it a pulpit/lectern… and it was therapeutic all over again. It wasn’t perfect, but neither was Dad. I received quite a few compliments on it. BUT I received quite a bit more compliments on Dad and how he had touched lives. #couldntbemoreproud I love and miss you Dad. Koey Keylon

Christ Lutheran Church WELCOMES Moses to our Congregation

Christ Lutheran Church celebrated on Sunday, August 19th with the ‘Passing the Leash’ service to welcome Moses into the church family.  Moses is a K-9 Comfort Dog that is going to be a special part to the outreach ministry at Christ Lutheran.
Rich Martin, Director of Ministry Advancement from Lutheran Church Charities, accompanied Moses to Nebraska from Illinois and led a training session for the K-9 Ministry Team at Christ Lutheran, and he also addressed the congregation.  The church service followed with a meal provided by Whitefoot catering.
Moses was introduced to members and guests of the congregation and is looking forward to future opportunities to meet the community.  Follow his upcoming itinerary on Facebook at Moses Comfort Dog or the church website christlutheranchurchcairo.com

Passing of the Lease Service to Welcome Moses Comfort Dog

The K-9 Comfort Dog ministry at Christ Lutheran Church will officially begin with a “passing of the leash” service on Sunday, August 19th, at 9:00 a.m.    Moses will arrive on Saturday accompanied by Rich Martin, Director of Ministry Advancement from Lutheran Church Charities.    Church members who attended the Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Comfort Dog National Conference in Barrington IL became acquainted with Moses and received training at that time.   Additional caregivers, handlers and helpers will receive training specific to comfort dogs Saturday afternoon.

Because of the generous support of the church and community, the ministry has a start date much earlier than expected, and the group is anxious to put the ministry into action by disaster response and visiting nursing homes, hospitals, veterans, etc. In appreciation, the community is invited and encouraged to attend Sunday’s service at Christ Lutheran, which will be followed by a dinner served by Whitefoot Catering.
